Our First Update

Welcome to our website - Organized Chaos, A Vanguard Guild. Beta 5 is upon us and NDA is lifted and we anxiously await our guildmates joining us in game after such a long wait.

For the newcomers to this site - A little bit about us...
We are a guild of approximately 40(ish) people that plan to play and have been planning to be a part of the creation of this guild for the better part of a year. We all come from a guild in EQ where we formed solid friendships and enjoy gaming with each other. We all plan to go into Vanguard with a much different gaming style than we are used to. We want to be a much more casual style raiding guild - that plays to have fun, not to have a job. While we do want to achieve and progress, we plan to do so at our pace, our timeframes, and our way.

Moving on - to the guild - Welcome to your new website. Please join me in thanking Windasani for making it possible. Wind has also been busy making maps which I am sure you and the community may end up hearing about in the future. Quite nice work!

Below I have attached some pictures of my toon and game graphics for those that haven't been keeping up and looking at different pics on the Vanguard site. The graphics are truly amazing when everything is turned on (even if I can't move). Hopefully the hardware requirements get toned down a bit prior to release.

I look forward to seeing more of the guild getting into beta soon!

Update Number TWO - (brought to you in part by Pussers Rum...)

So here we are, 11 days from the "we're out of money so we are pushing out the early, not ready release" special day! =)

In all seriousness though, the game is fun and imo has a lot of potential. Many are really hoping for toned down hardware requirements though. Either that or a map to the infamous money tree so we can buy new PC's.

Anyhow, a handful of us were in game tonight playing with Griffons and sitting in ventrillo chatting it up and listening to our newest favorite internet radio station... VANGUARD RADIO!!! DJ Hubert Hue (sp?) was rocking. LOL. As goofy as it sounds, it was pretty cool. They play music and give in game updates and the advertisements are just classic! Mix vanguard radio and alcohol and thats good times with lots of laughs. Started off laughing about it and the idea of it - but it actually grew on me. OC will be playing on the "Gulgrethor" Server once it goes live.We chose this server because it sounds the least coolest of all and hope to avoid the numerous random leet doods and idiots. Originally we were going to go Targonor Server until it was announced that the oceanic community has chosen Targonor for their nominated PvE server. So I guess really, it is our opinion that Gulgrethor is the 2nd least coolest server name, lol.

THE GRIND, NEW AND OLD FACES and WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING

The Grind…
Is the grind a good thing or bad thing? I suppose that depends on the player. Some people enjoy it and others find it tedious. One overall feeling is that once a player in this game reaches level 50, it is safe to assume they will know how to play their class. I personally liked the exp progress rate during the double exp weekends. It was still slower than WoW (aka “the other game” by the annoying fanbois) but a faster pace than normal here which made me feel like I was accomplishing something. I am happy to see the latest patch is increasing the experience rate significantly. In any event, the grind isn’t as bad as it was in EQ or as boring as it could be due to having different options such as the quest lines. Or maybe it’s just because it is a new game with new scenery that makes it not so bad, who knows. There are great places to just grind the exp or you can choose to do quests which seem to offer nice rewards and exp overall when they aren’t bugged. (Though I find less and less of that as time goes on).

New and Old Faces…
As for Organized Chaos, we are chipping away at a casual pace. The average level of the guild is in the 20’s. Our highest level is our old guildmate Beld at 36, whom none of us know since we can’t group with him but I hear he is a nice guy lol. The one nice thing about OC, is the people in it. We have a nice make up of the old school HL people, NC people, and new members that are friends and family of these former guildmates. For the outsider reading, HL stands for HavenLight, a guild from EQ xegony server. When the guild retired, the guild called NC – Noble Companions, was formed. In OC we have many members from both guilds. OC people from both era’s were surprised and glad to see one of our newest members join our ranks… Gwidion, the GL of HL. He is actually playing a cleric this time! We have many other old names from those days that have recently joined the guild in game such as (forgive me if I forget anyone) Sado, Zarkon, Beld, Jadan, Kakgak, and Edera to name a few. Also joining our ranks are some of my old guildmates from EQ Luclin server. The luclin/xegony transplants like myself, xerical and keitaro who left luclin and joined HL are looking forward to playing with our friends from luclin again. Overall, I am quite pleased with how this guild has turned out thus far and look forward to more members joining us.

What We Have Been Doing…
The guild has recently started focusing on working together by traveling to the Kojan area and getting nearly everyone our first cloaks and then starting to work on the Lord Tsang’s Tomb quest line. Some have already finished parts of this and received some pretty nice weapons and gear… Several have focused plenty of time on tradeskills and diplomacy too, which have provided the guild with things like nice weapons, armor, jewelry, +20 horseshoes for our ponies and camels, bags and diplomacy buffs for crafting, etc. Everyone that is in game currently plays consistently and at a casual pace as we wanted it to be and it seems to be working well for all – the overall impression is that everyone is enjoying the game and each others company without the feeling of the 2nd job. We have about 30 in game members and average 15 to 18 online each night. We are hoping the other forum members that had planned to play the game come join us soon, as well as anyone else that meets the criteria below:

Inc a_Shadow_Hound_02

Yesterday Sigil Patched in 2 new quest mounts. The Shadow Hound and the Unicorn.

After approximately 20 hours of questing, running, killing and more running Raiden and Zatranik were among the first people on Gulgrethor to obtain the new Shadow Hound mounts. They are currently 60 speed and 40 stability, but according to Game Designer Lisa Boleyn these mounts will be upped to Speed 70 Stability 50. They also come with a set of 22 slot saddlebags. A pretty nice reward - but a lot of work to complete.

Quick Update on what OC has been doing

We set out to enjoy this game and have fun. I think we have been doing that thus far. Many of us have been crafting and making homes, boats and getting skills up with the harvesting and crafting. Many have also completed the Unicorn and Shadowhound quests. Great quest lines imo and tons of fun. Several have been working on wardship armor and faction so we will post a picture of the first complete set as we get it.

We have finally opened up recruitment for a limited trial basis and have accepted 8 or 9 applicants for now. And just as soon as recruitement was opened it is now closed again! We didn't expect to have such a fast response from players on the server. So once we take in our last batch of 4 applicants this week, recruitment will be closed again until further notice. (This does not apply to anyone (that didnt burn their bridge with us) from HL or NC).

A couple changes in leadership were made over the last week so congratulations go out to Rukog and Poldar on becoming new officers of the guild.

As always - the guild is filled with crappy comedians, myself included - we do try to have fun!

Fumo ~ Who?!?!

This evening we took the field against Lord Fumobeso - a giant fungus headed brute who holds the key to entering the only raid zone in Vanguard - the Ancient Port Warehouse.

Over the last 2 weeks 12 of us clashed with him twice getting him to 69% the first night and 57% the next try. This evening we had 16 of us online to do battle and low and behold we spanked him like Krom's favorite monkey! (we miss you snookums).

Once we were done we headed to APW so everyone could get their favorite flavor of the APW key quest reward:

I can't tell you how proud I am of our members. They took him down tonight like they had been farming him for months. We took him down a second time about 20 minutes later to get a couple of folks keyed who, due to VG's amazing coding, didn't get the kill flag for the quest. On the second try a few of us officers screwed up and forgot to call some required actions/debuffs and got a few people pwned, but this group just kept kicking right along and covered our sorry asses!!

We then went in and checked out the entrance to APW and killed about halfway through to the first boss before the clock sent us to bed. This week should hold great excitement for us as we hope to see our first APW boss and hopefully have more good news to post about!

Malfunctions All Around.

Sunday Night we took another trip to the APW.....its kinda like going to the OC but the mobs have less silicon. We took in a solid group of 14 and proceeded to reboot a Malfunctioning X-77.

Congratz go out to Yakitori for being the first member of OC to win a piece of raid loot. He won a fabulous Hoptonian Reinforcements Mold (used to make the class-specific armors).

Then while clearing towards our next objective we found this poor guy polishing his propeller - he is easier than any of the other walking trashcans we found but happily this one gives Loot!!

We then proceeded on to try and kill our 3rd new mob of the night. We got through all the fabulous little saw-blade traps and were about to engage a bucket of bolts known as the Enraged X-83, but it seems the Crazy 88's (from Kill Bill for those scratching their heads) didn't like Sony infringing on their name, so they stormed the Sony datacenter and crashed the zone appx 10 seconds after we engaged. (it was either that or the fact that the GL of "Unforgiven" can't go 2 seconds without linking his APW gear that caused the shard to crash).

We had a great time and are looking forward to seeing Mr. X-83 Thursday night - and the Crazy 88's will NOT save him this time!!!

OC is a Casual Raiding Guild??

So OC took out yet another boss in APW last Thursday. Add Archon Travix to the list of kills. The guild is ripping right along with the progression in APW and doing it like experts with our goal of staying a Casual Raiding Guild. The guild only raids 2 nights a week, Thursdays and Saturdays and only for a few hours. With such little time and little practice, OC is adapting quite well in the world of Vanguard Raiding and making some great accomplishments. Just think what could happen if we went back to our hardcore 6 nights a week raiding like we did in EQ... heh, NO WAY - the thought of that much time in game makes me shiver. Casual it is for us!

On the way to Archon Travix, OC took out a couple named mobs, Akym the Assassin and Shadowsoul - also first time kills for OC. Loots are starting to pour into the guild and everyone is having a blast! Some of the loots were:

The mobs in APW that OC has previously killed are now officially on farm status as you can see in the below statement:



That is how we officially determine if a mob is farm status or not - if Exec can live through the fight - its a done deal!

The guild will continue working on the strat for General Vicus so stay tuned for an update once the General dies.

EDIT: I forgot to update about X83 getting the smack down at the beginning of February as well... here is a pic!

As a sidenote - Several members are coming back to the guild since the re-release - myself included. I must admit that there have been some really great improvements to the game and performance. We wish to see more of our old members return to the game! Just post on the forums and tell us you want your tag back as we updated our in game roster so it didnt list the guild as 123 members with the average level of 22 LOL.

AGE OF CONAN

Update on what has been happening in the guild.

The majority of us are going to try out Age of Conan. Several of us have pre-ordered and plan to play AOC as a guild but with absolutely zero intentions of having any organized raid schedules. I think at this point we have too many of us that just cannot commit to hours at a time of raiding or any schedules that go with it.

We plan to just play AOC and have some fun. We welcome any old members of our guild(s) that have played with us in EQ or VG. There is a thread in the veterans lounge discussing this transition. If you are an old member from HL, NC or OC that wants access, post and say Hi and I will give you access.

Hope to see some old faces come out of the shadows to play with us.

For clarification I wanted folks to know that OC is maintaining its presence in Vanguard. Razere is taking over as the Guild Leader for OC in Vanguard, and Yakitori will be helping him out as an officer.

Please send them your congratz and lend them any help you can as they take on the challenge of leading OC into the future of Vanguard!
